Hue - what a waste of time :(

We had a pretty scary journey up to hue, we were travelling by bus and because of the typhoon everywhere was flooded, some of it was a pretty horrible sight, some of the natives had had there houses ruined by the typhoon it also made the journey quite bumpy and just generally scary with he flooded water so high p, we had to go up the mountain and come back down you can imagine how in wide those roads were and our driver was over taking other large vehicles on a 2 lane road in like 5 th gear, I am telling you there were times when I feared we would have a accident :( and of cors it was chucking it down the whole time ! Oh well all part of the experience.

We finally arrived SAFELY! And we got Into our hotel, which wasn't very nice,  but we were just pleased to be there and off the bus, we went with the group for lunch and then decided to take ourselves to the citidel - the old city, we were armed with our waterproof trousers and jackets....off we went.

We walked along the "perfume" river don't let the name misguide you! It was brown and definitely did not smell like perfume! We enjoyed our walk along the river taking some pics, We also got to see the damagedt he typhoon had done :( there were trees everywhere laying on the floor, broken furniture some parts just looked a mess, it was still raining but had calmed down alot, we arrived at the citidel just to find it was closed :( because of the typhoon, we walked around the outside and took some pics and headed back.

It took over 2 hours to get back as we got seriously lost :( it did t help we did not know the name of the hotel :( we finally got there, fed up, wet and just wanting to lay down! We headed to our room for a rest. We took ourselves to dinner at a sports bar we had spotted, it turned out to be lovely and the highlight of this stop! There served really lovely food, western and Asian.

The next day, we had a lay in, then lunch at the sports bar then boarded our bus that took us to he train station for our final over night train to Hanoi then bus to halong bay :) we we're excited to go to halong bay but were not looking forward to the 14 hour train journey and 4 hour bus journey it would take to get there.

Maybe saying hue was a waste of time was a bit to critical, had we had more time there and the weather would have been better we might have thought differently.
