Volivoli beach resort

After leaving raki raki hotel our lovely driver gave us a lift to our next resort which was volivoli...we had booked this a few months before we left. As we were told that this is the hotel we would be staying in with our tour, but it had changed and we werent informed but we were still happy to go there for a few days it looked lovely :)

When we arrived it was like arrivng at a holiday resort which was a nice feeling after walking into so many hostels in the previous months! It was only 8am but we checked in and could go straight to our room :) we had a double room in a shared lodge but there was no one else there so we had it to ourselfs ! We had a bathroom and kitchen ! We had read there was a kitchen but Didnt want to buy to much food and then not be able to cook it so we just bought some noodles! It wasnt expensive to eat out at all but in the better resorts they put the prices up by at least double which was to be expected i suppose! It was still cheap by the English pound tho! 

We quickly did some washing to get it out to dry and then headed straight to the beach with our rods! As we walked down to the beach we noticed how clear the sea was! It was definately the clearest we had ever seen and it was beautiful, one part of the beach was in a cove and was surrounded by stunning landscape....

We decided to have a snorkel first! I had a fear of snorkelling but really wanted to try to get over it! I couldnt stand the sensation of breathing under water it made me panic! But i put the mask on and just thought "now or never sarah get it together!" Luke was by my side every step of the way and i am so pleased i pushed myself because we saw loads of colourful tropical fish it was really a great experience and we will go again tomorrow :) i just couldnt believe that we were swimming right next to these lovely fish :) we also had a go in the kayaks which was great fun :)

It was now time for some fishing :) we found a great spot and went for it! Luke saw loads of fish around  and a couple hooked on but they fought and managed to get off the hook! It was great fun......well i was watching a lot of the time! I did have a few chucks but then i left it up to the pro!!!! We had a great first afternoon at volivoli, we went for some late lunch at 3pm and just had a sandwich and wedges, the dinner was quite expensive and there was barely any vegatarian choices and the choices the staff did give me they would charge the same as a meal with meat !! So we decided to have lunch and then our noodles later! We had toasted tuna sandwiches and potato wedges and it was very tasty :)

We didnt end up having the noodles later as for the the rest of the day i had a bad upset tummy :( so just relaxed in the room, luke looked after me, made me cold drinks and cuddled me :) we went to bed early at 9pm and fell straight asleep ! 

When We woke the next morning i felt a little better just a bit drained, we went for breaky which we had included in the room price which i thought we didnt have included so that was a bonus! It was nice and we had a nice fruit platter each. It was a overcast day but still hot so we went down to the beach again luke had a fish & i chilled in the hammock :) perfect day in paradise :)

I decided that i wanted to go for a snorkel so i geared up and went for it! I had a bit of panic at the begining but it didnt take too long to get into it :) i was snorkelling a different area and saw loads of tropical fish all swimming together by the rocks it was great! I decided to get the camera, our underwater camera had been playing up recently but i decided to risk it and take it in! These fish were so colourful i needed some pics and thankfully the camera was fine & i got some good shots....

Luke decided to join me and we went for a long snorkel all around the reef area on our beach it was great fun and we even saw another reef snake! But it was much smaller then the other one we saw it made us realise the one we saw at beachouse was huge! The water wasnt as clear as yesterday but we still saw loads of fish, i was so pleased i gave snorkelling another shot as i have learnt....."fear is temporary, achievement is permanent" my fear of snorkelling was temporary but getting over my fear was an achievement and is permanent i was pleased with myself. 

We went for some lunch around 3pm and then stayed on the beach until 6.30pm just admiring the view it was so nice :) we really felt relaxed :) we headed back to our room to pack and have a wash, tomorrow we were getting collected at 9.30 to join yet another group but i think we will have our first guide again,...cam! We really liked him so were excited.

We enjoyed volivoli resort but mostly for the scenary, it was beautiful and we got to see some really beautiful fish whilst snorkelling ! More great memories made in fiji :))
