Feejee experience....the first day....

Today we start our tour with feejee experience :) we didnt really no what to expect but we were excited....they turned up to pick us up and we got a good size blue bus and trailer for luggage with feejee experience on the side! The driver and our guide were very nice and chatty, we boarded and then set off to collect others....there was 9 of us altogether, and quite a nice group of people :) once we were all on board we spent around 20 minutes all chatting and getting all the info from our guide....his name was "cam" and he was lovely :) he was making jokes every other sentance and it was a relief to be in the company of such nice people for a change!
....our bus :)

We stopped first in nadi town where we all stocked up on water, snacks etc and it was here we had our first tiny bit of free wifi in a large tourist store! So we very quickly updated the world and then it was time to head off to our first stop "a traditional fijian village" we were given a free sarong....a lovely blue one with fiji experience written on it, it was compulsary to wear these at certain places in fiji as a sign of respect....
....spot luke wearing his sarong!

We were shown around the village and given some really interesting information, it was great to see all the tradiational fijian living arrangements!....

After our village visit we contiued onto a lovely beach where we would have a bbq lunch! This beach looked like paradise ....
....so pretty :)

This beach had lovely blue sea that was as hot as a hot bath! And gorgeous sand and it just looked like a slice of paradise :) we both had a lovely swim and even saw some fish swimming around us :) the guide and driver cooked our bbq there was chicken, sausages and fish, the fish was wahoo! And it was scrummy!  with potato salad and salad! It was scrummy the fish was gorgeous :) when we loaded our plates up i asked where the cutlery was and cam said you eat with your hands! And i thought it was another joke so i asked if he was joking about 4 times and said theres no way i am doing that! There was potato salad with mayo on it! That would have been really messy! Any way he found me a fork thank god!

After lunch there was some drinking going on! Everyone had bought some booze at the supermarket it was dirt cheap and two of the girls had bought a 58% alcohol bottle of rum! I opted out to try but luke got stuck in!....
....this is there local rum!

I settled for my nice fruity vodka! Luke went back for a dip in the ocean after that!

We all packed up and got back on the bus and made our way to the next stop....sand dunes! Now i am not a fan of sand so i was quite happy with catching some snaps of luke ! And when we arrived to the sand dunes they were so so steep....
....it was a long way down!

Luke had great fun on these ! He went down about 6 times and even built a ramp with one of the other guys! However that didnt really go to plan as the first guy missed the ramp and then luke went straight through the ramp! It was really funny i got some great pics :) he also had a race with one of the other guys....
....which he won!!

....this is luke going through the ramp!!

It was such fun watching them all! That was our last excursion of the day it was now time to make our way to the resort...."mango bay resort" we all needed a shower by this time and were pleased when we got to the resort and were able to wash and chill for a bit. We had already pre booked private rooms for the whole of our trip so we had a "garden bure" which is a hut in the garden and a very common form of accomodation in fiji....
....this is our bure!

Our bure was huge inside with its own bathhroom, a fan and mozzie net! It was good and a different experience to what we had had before! And we were actually so tired we didnt really care about our surroundings!

That night we enjoyed a group dinner....and as a group took part in a trivia quiz....which we won! We won a jug of cocktail ! It was very tasty! We were then introduced to the kava ceremony! Kava is a root plant and originated in fiji....it is used for many things but one of its main propertys is it makes people relaxed and calm, they also use it here for pregnant woman as a Pain relief! You empty the kava contents....which is like little pieces of herbs.....into a bowl of water and mix it.....this is all done by the fijian carrying out the ceremony.....he chants and we all have to clap before we drink it and when others drink it! It was quite an experience! We were given a cup full each.....it tasted like dirt! It wasnt to pleasant! But almost immediately we had numb tongues! It didnt last for ages! It was good to experience it and it was great to see something cultural !

We had a early night, tomorrow we had a early start we were being taken to our next resort "the beachouse" this is a hop on hop off tour and we had chosen to hop off at this resort! We had a month here so had loads of time to finish our tour....we were a little sad to be leaving our group tho....it had been a fun day and evening with a great crowd of people :)

....our group photo and first meal on our tour :)

Fiji.....so far we are in love with you :)
