The city of San Francisco :)

We had a 8 hour coach journey to san fran which was ok we just chilled out. We had a guy sitting in Front of us who was travelling alone and had sat next to a girl who was asian/american and he just didnt stop talking the whole 8 hours thats no joke! And it was mostly about himself! Even when the poor girl tried to speak he would just talk about himself or about the amount of girls he had met and was going to travel with around usa! we had to laugh! The amount of backpackers we have over heard talking a load of crap is ridiculous! Anyway thats my only moan!

We arrived at our hostel which was the same chain as the last one and we had pre booked a private double with ensuite :) we couldnt wait to have our own room again :) we was only in that dorm for 3 nights ! That was enough to remind us we were never going to go into a dorm again! When we got to our room....it was lovely, small but perfect, lovely bed with some huge cushions on, fridge, microwave tv! We were spoilt and it was a very similar price as dorms well maybe about $40 more but defo worth it. We was still so tired and i dont know if it was down to the jetlag or not ....it seemed a bit far fetched we had a arrived a week ago but somehow we were still so tired to the point of our eyes watering well mine were watering constantly! But we decided we had to eat so we researched and found that there was a place directly opposite called "pearls burgers" and since we hadnt got our bearings yet with our location and it was dark we decided to eat there, we shared a vegi burger and onion rings and sweet potato fries it was huge, very cheap and very tasty! We decided to go to bed after that we were knackered but we facetimed my mum first i wanted to Tell her all about the queen mary :) so after that it was gone midnight!

We were stupidly tired....we slept ok and got up and went out around midday we headed to dennys in union square for lunch/breakfast, luke had breakfast and i had the most amazing soup and dipping veggies! Perfect. We wanted to head to the golden gate Bridge today so we wondered back through union square to get the bus. Union square had a really good vibe and we loved just strolling around taking it all in, it was a nice place :)

We boarded our bus, it was $2 each for the whole day until 7pm! And headed to the golden gate bridge :) When we got there it was quite busy but ok, and the bridge looked magnificent :) i have to say we thought it would be bigger! It was huge obviously but the movies make these things look much bigger! We had a look in the shop and wondered around taking in all the facts about the building of the bridge and its history and then decided to walk the 3 mile round trip across the bridge :) it was a beautiful day sunny, hot with a bit of breeze :) we took loads of snaps and even asked People to take our picture but unfortunately they were crap! But we got some nice ones....

After walking across and back again we wanted to get a better view and pics of the bridge so went down to the waters edge where there were many people fishing! And one guy had just caught one ! There was quite a commotion! We also saw some stupidly over sized sea gulls! It was here we got a lovely pis of us and the bridge taken by a local that i am not sure was crazy or not.... she was chatting away to the sea gulls and trying to entice them to her for a stroke! It was quite funny! However she took a crackong pic of us!

After that it was 6 o'clock and I didnt feel so well so we got the bus back to the hostel and chilled out,and  that night we got another good feed from pearls burgers! All set for tomorrows adventure where ever they may take us :)

The next day we woke up and went for breakfast that was included...it was bagels, toast, cereal and fruit, tea, coffee and juices :) we then went back to our bed we was still feeling tired. We decided to skype lukes mum and sister we had a lovely chat and we ended up being on skype for 3 hours! It was nice :) we then decided that today we were going to go down to fishermans wharf and to pier 39 to have a look around and look at the seals :) we got the historic F line tram down to pier 39 it was just $2 each! When we got there it was a lovely atmosphere the pier was big full of shops, restaurants and lots of hustle and bustle but it was a bit chilly! The wind was cold! We didnt know this then but since found out that san fran has the coldest summers! And it was the wind that was making us cold! We were not prepared for it! But we enjoyed the shops and we went into this gorgeous xmas shop it had some really beautiful xmas decorations we bought a san fran cable car one :) and there was also a Left handed store! Hard rock cafe, fish and chips and of course the seals :) they were so cute :) and also massive they were all huddled together :) it was great to see them we also got great views of alcatraz! We then went around to fishermans wharf which also had a great atmosphere.

These are the old F line trams we rode :) down to pier 39

When we returned to union square we decided on dennys for dinner! And i ordered a feast for us ! I dont know why! Dennys is so cheap you sometimes get carried away! I wont next time! We also saw the original cable cars going up and down the hill with loads of people on! We took lots of pics :) Tomorrow was the day we leave our hostel and go to our starting hotel for our cross country tour and we were excited.

We checked out at 10am and decided to walk to the hotel, luke had looked up where it was and it wasnt far ! All down hill thank god! So we walked and when we arrived our room was on the 7th floor and the lift was down for maintanence !! We got the staff to bring our bags up! The walk up was bad enough let alone with our cases! The room was lovely....small but fine for us! We rested for 30mins or so and then headed out....i wanted to get some photos printed for my nan and get our pics put on cd to send home ! We were badly running out of memory card space and needed to delete the pics! That took us over an hour unfortunately but it had to be done! And today we were also freezing cold! So after that we went for a wonder in the shops to warm up! We headed to disney store as we were still on the hunt for frozen merchandise for our niece millie :) then over to mens macys ! And i am glad we did as this is where we got our bargain jumpers! We were handed a 25% off voucher when we walked in, normally with these vouchers you cant actually use them Theres always a catch to it! But not here it was a "real" 25% off the already marked down stuff! Luke was originally looking for a beanie hat and a thick pair of socks as we were cold now and thought it will be cold camping! I already had one and we both had one jumper each which had lasted us the whole trip just fine but now it was colder they just weren't warm enough :( luckily i found a jumper straight away it was thick and woolly in the hood and arms and what a bargain at $11 but they didnt have one in lukes size so we found him a different one he found a fox make one which at home would have been over £100 it was on sale for $25 ! We couldnt believe our luck! And luke also found a pair of socks! When we got to the till we used our coupon and got the whole lot for around $32 ! So lukes jumper was infact $20 (£12) and mine was $8! Perfect :) we went in a few other shops to get luke a hat but it wasnt the right season for those kinds of hats so no luck, we headed to dennys for another cheap dinner! This time i didnt over order! I had a garden salad which was bloody lovely and a cheese tortilla thing and luke had a BLT sandwich with avocado! Dennys never fails to give us a nice meal :) as we walked around the city over the last few days we couldnt help but notice all the homeless, they were everywhere like more then 5 per street we didnt take any notice of them but a few were quite odd!

We had a group meeting at 6pm and then optional group dinner but we really needed to repack and get ready for the trip so we didnt go to that. There was always abit of anxiety meeting a new tour group and guide as we would be with these people for 3 weeks ! And we had met so many shall we say Different/odd people/backpackers along the way that we just hoped they were all "normal"! We attended the meeting, all was fine everyone was nice, the guide...well the guide was young, had only done the tour once before and had only worked for g adventures for 1 year! Now we didnt judge on that info..only time will tell if he is a good guide but he seemed very nervous & amateur !

We said we would see them all in the morning and went to our room to pack/rearrange our bags! For tommorrow we leave for the tour at 8am :)
